On March 28th, in order to further carry forward the spirit of model workers, the spirit of labor, and the spirit of craftsmanship, and to contribute to the construction of the "Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Project", the first event in 2025 in Guangdong Province themed "Forge Ahead on the New Journey and Women Model Workers and Craftsmen Showcase Their Elegance" where women model workers and craftsmen give talks on campus was held at South China Agricultural University. At the event site, five representatives of women model workers and craftsmen passionately shared their stories of struggle.
"From small home appliances, mobile phones, automotive electronics to large launch vehicles, the Chang'e satellites, etc., our efforts and contributions are behind their reliable operation." Over the past 21 years, Lin Xiaoling, a National Advanced Worker, a March 8th Red-Banner Holder in Guangdong Province, an academic leader at the Fifth Electronics Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and a senior engineer of the highest grade, along with her team, have been dedicated to the research on the reliability and failure analysis technology and application of integrated circuits, and have achieved a series of original achievements. "We have been able to ride the wind and waves all the time because we have beliefs. "Agricultural production and research require long-term perseverance and dedication. Once you make a choice, you should stick to it." Xie Lili, a recipient of the National May 1st Labor Medal, a National Advanced Individual in Agriculture, Deputy Secretary of the Party General Branch and Director of the Tropical Crops Research Institute of Guangdong State Farms and Land Reclamation Bureau, has remained true to her original aspiration. From the promotion of new planting materials for new rubber varieties, to the reform of rubber tapping technology, and then to the research on the composite cultivation of rubber and southern Chinese medicinal herbs, rubber seedling cultivation, southern Chinese medicinal herb seedling cultivation, and the construction of a demonstration base for the production of natural rubber for aviation tires, she has regarded the rubber plantation as a laboratory, written her papers on the land, tempered her youth where the motherland needs it most, and contributed scientific and technological strength to rural revitalization.
"The journey ahead is long, and only through struggle can we move forward." In her 23 years of work, Zhang Chunmei, a National Women's Achievements Pacesetter, a recipient of the May 1st Labor Medal in Guangdong Province, and Deputy General Manager of the Innovation and Digitalization Department of Guangdong Zhongshan Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid, took the lead in building a digital power grid covering the entire area of Zhongshan, promoting the digital transformation of the power grid in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The "Zhang Chunmei Innovation Studio" has cultivated a large number of high-quality talents for the construction of the digital power grid.
"Science and technology are the core driving force for the development of agriculture." Over the past 29 years, Qiu Lihua, a National March 8th Red-Banner Holder, a recipient of the May 1st Labor Medal in Guangdong Province, and a researcher at the South China Sea Fisheries Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, has successively participated in many projects such as the breeding of abalone, the cultivation and breeding of giant tiger prawns, and the cultivation and genetic breeding of Japanese sea bass. On the path of scientific research, she has encountered countless difficulties and setbacks. However, every time, she tells herself that as long as she harbors a dream and is down-to-earth, she will surely be able to write her own glorious chapter.
Sugar analysis has always been a world-class scientific problem. Zhao Jing, a National March 8th Red-Banner Holder, a National Young Scholar of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a researcher at the Zhuhai Institute of Macau University of Science and Technology, and a PhD supervisor at the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine of the University of Macau, has been deeply engaged in the research field of sugar analysis. She has developed a set of systematic sugar analysis technology and strategy, the "glycomics method", creating an internationally recognized "quality yardstick" for traditional Chinese medicine and solving major scientific problems in the research of traditional Chinese medicine. Zhao Jing encouraged everyone, "Originality is the highest level of scientific research achievements, and it is precisely because of this that human knowledge can keep growing. However, originality is extremely difficult, even more difficult than ascending to the sky. We need to love what we do, because love can overcome all difficulties."
The unyielding, never-give-up, and vigorous fighting spirit of these women model workers and craftsmen, as well as their inspiring words, have repeatedly won thunderous applause from the audience.
