Recently, Li Yuan, a female employee of Kunming Xinyie Cleaning Service Co., Ltd. in Kunming, Yunnan Province, received a "gift" full of a sense of security — a special collective contract on the labor protection of female employees was signed in Kunming's housekeeping industry. This means that the legitimate rights and interests of female employees like Li Yuan in the housekeeping service industry will be further protected.

The collective contract was determined through a special collective negotiation meeting on the labor protection of female employees in Kunming's housekeeping service industry. Under the promotion of the Kunming Federation of Trade Unions and the Panlong District Federation of Trade Unions, the two parties in the labor relationship carried out face-to-face negotiations around key issues such as the protection of the rights and interests of female employees during pregnancy and lactation, labor protection during menstruation, regular physical examinations, and "two cancers" (cervical cancer and breast cancer) screenings. Finally, an agreement was reached on the issues of the offer, and the chief representatives of the Kunming Housekeeping Industry Trade Union Federation and the Kunming Housekeeping Industry Association signed the collective contract. The collective contract covers 200 housekeeping enterprises and more than 3,000 female employees.
The reporter noticed that the collective contract signed this time guarantees the legitimate rights and interests and special interests of female employees. The content includes that during the pregnancy, childbirth, and lactation periods of female employees, enterprises shall not reduce their basic salaries or terminate their labor contracts; when female employees need to rest during menstruation as certified by a medical institution, they can enjoy 1 to 2 days of menstrual leave, and their salaries shall be paid as usual during this period; for female employees who are more than 7 months (inclusive) pregnant, the employer shall not extend their working hours or arrange night shifts, etc.
The person in charge of the Panlong District Federation of Trade Unions introduced that in recent years, the district federation has focused on the urgent, difficult, worrying, and eagerly awaited issues of female employees and carried out a series of work in conjunction with the Kunming Housekeeping Industry Association and the industry trade union federation. By the end of June 2024, the Panlong District Federation of Trade Unions and the industry association jointly organized the first vocational skills competition for housekeeping attendants (organizers and storage specialists) in the district, and more than 50 housekeeping attendants competed on the same stage; in January this year, through the joint mediation of the "trade union + association", in just 10 minutes, 6,000 yuan in remuneration was recovered for Mu, a housekeeping employee, efficiently resolving the conflict and dispute.
