Breaking news! The road surface of an expressway in Guangdong collapsed, with 18 vehicles falling into it, resulting in 19 deaths!




At around 2:10 a.m. on May 1st, a road collapse accident occurred on the Meizhou-Dabu Expressway in Guangdong Province, near the K11+900m mark (about 2 kilometers in the direction of the Chayang section exit) in the direction from Dabu to Fujian. As of 11:45 a.m. on May 1st, after on-site verification, a total of 18 vehicles were trapped in the accident (no large vehicles such as hazardous chemical vehicles or passenger buses were found), involving a total of 49 people. Among them, 19 people have been confirmed dead, and 30 people are currently receiving all-out treatment in the hospital, with no immediate danger to their lives. The collapsed section of the highway is approximately 17.9 meters long and covers an area of about 184.3 square meters.


 

 

After the accident occurred, Guangdong Province established an on-site command headquarters for the accident rescue. More than 500 people from public security, emergency response, fire protection, health, transportation departments, and the mine rescue team were deployed to participate in the on-site rescue.

 

Affected by continuous heavy rainfall, a natural geological disaster occurred at the K11+900 mark in the direction towards Fujian on the Meizhou-Longyan Expressway (Meizhou-Dabu section), resulting in the collapse of the road surface and the interruption of two-way traffic at the scene.
